Must Have Softwares for General Usage on Windows XP, Vista or 7

Sometimes in Your life, You may buy or get new PC/Notebook or when You need to format Your old PC/Notebook, then You need it so badly to re-installing softwares along with Your Operating System (in this case: Windows). If You are facing this kind of situation right now, I suggest You to consider this list below (despite the compatibility issues with Windows Vista and 7) :
  • Cleaner (all in one) : I prefer to use Advanced SystemCare from IObit than any other softwares;
  • Office : to handle all office files, Microsoft Office 2010 is the best (beta version);
  • Browser : I prefer to use Mozilla Firefox than Opera;
  • Security Suite (antivirus, antispyware, and firewall altogether) : Kaspersky Internet Security (commercial), Comodo Internet Security (free);
  • Antivirus : Kaspersky Antivirus (commercial), Avast Home Edition (free);
  • Antispyware : a2free (both free and commercial versions), Ad-Aware Free from Lavasoft;
  • Firewall : PC Tools Firewall Plus (free);
  • File archiever/zip/RAR utility : 7-Zip (free);
  • Music and Video Player : Windows Media Player (with Shark007 codec);
  • PDF reader : Foxit Reader (free), it's faster than Adobe Reader;
  • BitTorrent Client : uTorrent (small-sized installer);
  • Uninstaller : Revo Uninstaller (free);
  • Image/Picture/Photo editor : Adobe Photoshop (commercial);
  • Music Cutter/Editor/Converter : GoldWave (commercial);
  • Burning Tool (all in one) : Nero (commercial), ImgBurn (free).

Best Antivirus - popularity vs security tests result

Which antivirus do You prefer in 2010? The answers may vary on each person You asked. But I found based on popularity, users from all around the world vote Eset NOD32 as the most favourite antivirus, with Kaspersky in the 2nd place. Through various searching in security test results I found that Kaspersky have better results compared to Eset NOD32. From my personal experiences, I have used both of these antivirus, both have friendly user interface and ease of use. Kaspersky have better treatment for suspected/infected files or folders, while Eset NOD32 lacks of it. Eset NOD32 use very small memory when scanning compared to Kaspersky which is a bit heavier on memory using. So amongst the commercial antiviruses or security suites, I must say Kaspersky have advantages. So which one is Your choice? Please leave Your comment.
